South Elementary School serves about 400 students from kindergarten to fifth grade. Built in 1952 on 11 acres of land, the school sits adjacent to Dole Mansion.
The school holds three SEDOM hearing-impaired classrooms for instruction for deaf and hard-of-hearing students. South School offers a number of extra-curricular activities, including band, an art club, a bike rodeo and spelling and geography bees. Mary Katzler currently serves as principal.
