Substance Abuse Services provides a variety of treatment options to individuals and families through services that are focused on recovery from the effects of alcoholism and drug addiction. It features the Opioid Treatment Program, which operates to reduce the physical, psychological and social problems that are associated with dependence on narcotics and drugs. It offers group therapy and psycho-educational sessions and counseling services. Substance Abuse Services' Drug Court program includes court-monitored treatment options that are developed in partnership with the Norfolk Circuit Court and criminal justice service agencies. It maintains a location in Norfolk, Va. Substance Abuse Services is a part of the Norfolk Services Community Board, which was founded in 1969 and provides a range of mental retardation and development services. The Norfolk Services Community Board provides treatment and rehabilitation services to more than 6,000 residents.
