Northwestern Electric Cooperative, founded in 1940, is a nonprofit cooperative that provides electric services. The cooperative offers electricity to more than 11,000 meters and over 4,800 miles of line. It serves industrial, commercial and residential customers throughout northwest Oklahoma. The cooperative offers rebates on the replacement and installation of new heat pumps and electric water heaters. Northwestern Electric Cooperative offers online bill payment plans. It is affiliated with the Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives, Touchstone Energy and National Rural Electric Cooperative Associations. The cooperative provides compact fluorescent light bulbs and surge protectors. It purchases power from Western Farmers Electric Cooperative, which is a generation and transmission cooperative.
