Headlands is one of 10 elementary schools in the Mentor Schools District. Its principal is Janice Price. Each of its teachers has a page on the school's website, which they can use to keep parents informed of what children are doing in class. The school's newsletter, Headland Highlights, is also available online. In 2010, the Mentor School Board voted to close Headlands Elementary School at the end of the 2010-2011 school year because the school district anticipates a financial deficit, and the city does not have the population to sustain 10 elementary schools.
