History
First Christian Church is an historic congregation in Charlotte, tracing its official beginning to a worship service in a local YMCA auditorium on May 30, 1915. In time, the congregation broke ground in Dilworth, the first suburb of Charlotte, NC. By 1924, the first of the existing buildings was built on the property. In 1955, the church built its current sanctuary. In 2008, two events radically transformed this congregation: the organization of the Dilworth Soup Kitchen, and the advent of a refugee community. Weekly, hundreds of people come through our doors--a congregation on Sundays with many young children and families of diverse backgrounds, and on Mondays, volunteers as well as guests for the Dilworth Soup Kitchen.
