History
Ascension Lutheran Church was the first Missouri Synod Lutheran church in Charlotte, under the former name of Mt. Calvary Lutheran. Ascension has played a vital role in the mission of growth in the Charlotte area, by releasing members to form new congregations in the surrounding area. Ascension stands on the property that was purchased in 1942, and to this day has remained one of the larger LCMS congregations in Charlotte.
