The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is a division of the Department of Justice. It assists local law enforcement agencies with a variety of criminal investigations, including homicide, missing person search, robbery and property crime. Each unit within the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation uses advanced technology to investigate, analyze, identify and apprehend criminals. It also has jurisdiction in several other areas of investigation, including election laws, child sexual abuse in day care centers, drug and arson investigations, theft and misuse of state property, and computer crime investigations that involve crimes against children. It additionally offers an internship program that is coordinated through various colleges and universities throughout North Carolina. The North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation is located in Raleigh, N.C.
