Located in Middletown, N.Y., the Department of Public Works regulates and inspects construction projects in and around Middletown. It is a part of the city s municipal departments. The department s responsibilities include maintaining city streets and performing sanitation pickups. Its duties include snow plowing, paving and the maintenance of traffic lights. The Department of Public Works also runs day-to-day water and sewer treatment plant operations. Additionally, it operates and maintains more than 60 miles of wastewater sewer lines and over 1,000 catch basins and manholes within the city and neighboring sections in Town of Wallkill, Wawayanda and Mount Hope.
