Established in 1977, the Landmarks Preservation Society of Southeast is a not-for-profit organization with approximately 300 members.
The Society currently maintains three properties in Brewster: the Walter Brewster House, the Old Southeast Church and the Doanesburg Schoolhouse. Members hold fundraisers and community events throughout the year to give the public a taste of the town's history. Any donations or fees are used for the upkeep of the three buildings, including the repairs on roofs and foundations.
The Walter Brewster House and the Doanesburg Schoolhouse is available to rent for meetings or special events such as weddings.
Community events include holiday concerts at the Walter Brewster house, tree lightings and the celebration of Walter Brewster's birthday each year, among other functions.
New members are always welcome, and can request an application by calling the society.
