The Municipal Building is located in Forked River, Lacey. The building houses the Township Administrator, Financial Administrator, Code Enforcement, Tax Collector, Municipal Clerk, Municipal Court, Tax Assessor, Court Clerk/Violations, Community Development and Network Administrator.
The Township Administrator is responsible for executing policies implemented by elected officials. The administrator also takes part in the day-to-day operation of the office including administering the budget.
The Municipal Clerk assists the the mayor, the governing body, and the administrator. The clerk is also n expert on the history of Lacey.
The Finance Department is responsible for Municipal Budget preparation, Bond sale Preparation, annual financial statements, Budget maintenance and execution, payroll, purchasing, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
The Tax Collector role deals with the billing, collection, reporting and enforcement of municipal taxes.
The Tax Assessor is responsible for discovering and locating property, listing of property, determining taxability, exemption and tax deduction statutes, determining the value of property, tax equalization, and defense of appeals.
Code Enforcement deals with animals and pets, garbage, rubbish, trash, public streets, property maintenance, weeds and plant growth. vehicles and zoning enforcement.
The Community Development Department is responsible for Zoning, Code Enforcement, Planning Board, Zoning Board, Affordable Housing, Floodplain Management, Registrar of Vital Statistics, Board of Health, Pinelands Commission development approvals, and Census Information.
The Municipal Court is responsible for violations of municipal ordinances, motor vehicle, and traffic laws; disorderly persons offenses; petty disorderly persons offenses; and other non-indictable offenses.
