Carolyn attended Middlebury College and then egan her career as a United States Peace Corps volunteer, serving as a midwife in the Central African Republic. She earned her Master's degree from Oxford University in Elizabethan and Jacobean English and then attended the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. She practiced in New York City for several years, focusing on Civil and Human Rights violations until moving to New Hampshire in 1999 where she practiced general civil litigation. In 2007 she served as in-house general counsel for a large telecommunication company until forming Cole Associates Civil Law, PLLC Civil Law, PLLC in 2013.
