The Nevada Department of Corrections is a governmental agency that oversees the state s penal system. It is governed by the Board of Prison Commissioners and employs more than 2,700 staff members. The department maintains a victim services unit that serves as a point of contact and provides information about the registration of crime victims for the notification of the release of offenders from the custody. The unit also provides general information regarding the status of offenders in the custody and the notification of an inmate s escape.
