In addition to fire suppression and paramedic services, Metro West Fire Protection District teams also assist with technical rescues and speciality services. Every firefighting team responding in the fire trucks includes a certified paramedic, making the district's service akin to having an ambulance team present.
The district is comprised of five fire stations, with two located in Wildwood. Station 3 in Wildwood serves as the administrative headquarters. The other stations are in Ballwin, Castlewood, and Ellisville. The district focuses on injury prevention through a variety of community education and support programs, and also conducts inspections and issues permits.
Metro West participates in the Greater St. Louis area Councils Exploring Program (Post 9308) teaching 14 to 18 year olds about careers in fire and emergency services.
The district's daily mission is to prevent emergencies. It also makes a special effort to identify any residents who have mobility challenges, and invests its best thinking into strategic emergency management and preparation.
