Laker Academy offers 16-19 year old West Bloomfield School District high school students in grades 10-12 an opportunity to earn a high school diploma if they have not been successful in the traditional high school and are "at-risk" of dropping out. Students receive innovative and flexible schedules, including courses in geometry, Native American history and literature as well as business internships and a required 1/2-credit of community service. Principal Robert Goralczyk leads a staff of eight including guidance counselors and social workers there to provide full support.
There is only one morning and one afternoon bus, arriving at 7:55 a.m. and departing at 3 p.m.
