MCCH programs seek to help chronically homeless adults and formerly homeless individuals and families settle into housing. This includes transitional and permanent housing. Safe havens, care and treatment for the mentally ill are also part of the mission
The MCCH is a community-based nonprofit organization started in the 1980s with an informal network of shelters, soup kitchens, government officials and church congregations. The effort was officially incorporated in 1990. It's funded by government contracts and private donations.
