Founded in 1976, Great Plains Manufacturing is one of the largest privately held agricultural equipment manufacturers in the United States. Headquartered in Salina, the company has manufacturing facilities in Assaria, Kipp, Abilene, Lucas, Enterprise, and Tipton, Kan. It also has a plant in Chetek, Wis. Great Plains Manufacturing has a division, Land Pride, which manufactures agricultural seed planting and tillage equipment and crop sprayers. Its products include finish mowers, rotary tillers and cutters, landscape seeding equipment and a number of dirt-working implements. The company s products are sold through more than 2,000 independent dealerships across the U.S., and are exported worldwide. Two other important subsidiaries of Great Plains Manufacturing are Great Plains Trucking, which operates over 60 trucksand Great Plains Acceptance Corporation, which provides product financing. Great Plains Manufacturing encompasses nearly eight manufacturing facilities with a total of approximately 750,000 square feet. It has a staff of more than 1,000 employees.
