Structural engineering is a field of engineering dealing with the analysis and design of structures that support or resist loads. We check snow load, wind load, earth quake loads. We combine these with floor loads, trolleys, winches, vibration lifts, even forklift impact as required by OSHA. NASA designed a process called “finite element modeling” to predict material failure. We use this process to determine the safe load level for maximum strength and minimum material.
