AMB Financial Corporation is a holding company for American Savings. Clement B. Knapp, Sr. chartered American Savings in 1910 as the First Polish Building, Loan and Savings Association. The bank serves the financial needs of families and businesses in northwest Lake County, Ind. The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation insures its deposits. Its business involves attracting deposits from the general public and using such deposits to originate residential mortgages and multi-family, non-residential real estate, land, commercial business and consumer loans. The bank also invests in mortgage-backed securities, investment securities, consisting primarily of United States government obligations, and various types of short-term liquid assets. American Savings has its main office in Munster, Ind., and branch offices in the communities of Dyer and Hammond, Ind.
