The Cicero Police Department provides law enforcement for the city of Cicero, Ill., and is a division of the city s government. In addition, it provides support services to the Hamilton County Sheriff s department and the state police force. It also works with the town of Arcadia, Ill., in providing animal control. The department s primary responsibilities include providing enforcement of laws that relate to crimes against persons and property, as well as initiating investigations into such crimes. It also enforces codes and ordinances pertaining to traffic and parking. In addition, the department participates in programs that are geared toward community awareness and crime prevention. The police department maintains records and compiles reports regarding emergency calls, types of reported crimes and offender registrations. It also files reports on behalf of residents pertaining to crimes and traffic accidents. The department consists of more than five full-time police officers and 10-plus reserve officers.
