Georgia Power is the largest subsidiary of Southern Company, one of the largest generators of electricity in the United States. The company is an investor-owned, tax-paying utility, serving more than 2 million customers. Through the Georgia Power Foundation, the company has contributed more than $70 million to qualifying nonprofit agencies since its inception in 1986. Georgia Power is also one of the largest nongovernment providers of recreation facilities in the state.
