The Darien Fire Department has roots dating back to 1895; it is the oldest of Darien's three volunteer fire departments.
While the Darien Fire Department is responsible for its individual district, all three departments are dispatched together to any structural calls.
The Darien Fire Department's current firehouse on the Post Road was dedicated in 1964. Today, it is the headquarters for about 50 active, 40 associate, and two house members.
The Department is partially supported by Town taxes but also relies on generous contributions to meet its annual budget.
