Founded in 1982, Support for Families of Children with Disabilities is a parent-run San Francisco-based nonprofit organization. It offers information, education and parent-to-parent support to families of children with any kind of disability or special health care need in San Francisco. The organization s wide array of services include phone line/drop-in/resource libraries, support groups, volunteer parent mentor, educational workshops, family gatherings, community outreach, etc. The group collaborates with various government agencies and nonprofit service providers, including High Risk Infant Interagency Council, Family Voices of California and Open Gate among others. Support for Families of Children with Disabilities is a recipient of the Best in America seal from the Independent Charities of America.
