Founded in 1979, the North Valley Art League is an art centre which supports and showcases work by local artists in northern California. Based in Redding, Calif., it is membership based and organizes art/photography shows, along with various meetings, workshops and fine arts programs, as well as a painting course for children. The center offers various facilities for artists, such as The Carter House Gallery, an open studio and the Matson Mowder Howe Celebration Garden. Additionally, the North Valley Art League manages a gift shop, which displays a variety of local artwork, including jewelry, glass/wood/metalwork, sculptures and pottery.

Redding City Police Department

The Redding Police Department protects lives and properties, solves neighborhood problems and enhances the quality of life in the city. Its field operation division responds to more than 90,000 people spanning over 60 square miles. The department s patrol unit assists the local and civic groups in planning and executing strategies for air shows and other state festivals. The Redding Police Department s defensive tactics unit is responsible for training all sworn police personnel in tactics of arrest, self-defense, control holds and impact weapons. The department maintains a major crime unit that investigates homicides, robberies, kidnappings and aggravated assaults. The department also operates a crime prevention unit that serves as a liaison between the police department and the community and functions as a training unit for private and public groups or individuals. The Redding Police Department additonally operates various specialized units and is located in Redding, Calif.
