The Moraga Library is a popular and inviting retreat for locals and visitors looking for a place to study and relax with a good book or do a little local research. Nestled in amongst some of the last remaining old growth redwoods in Lamorinda and built in an early California motif, the Moraga Library has resided in its current location on St. Mary's Road since 1974. Adjacent to the Moraga Historical Society archives, the library provides area residents with 64,000 books, recorded books, music and DVDs to choose from, as well as computers, WI-FI access and a meeting room.
The library hosts history and craft sessions, lectures, author visits and teen workshops, and a dedicated volunteer team maintains the town's historical archives, which are often on display. This location is also the home base of the Friends of the Moraga Library, an active, supportive group that works hard to augment the library's book budget and programming with book sales and other efforts.
