The Intermodal Transportation Division, a part of the Arizona Department of Transportation, is responsible for managing a statewide network of highways. The division also oversees the construction and maintenance of highway systems. It operates the Adopt a Highway Program, which allows the groups of volunteers to pickup litter. The Arizona Department of Transportation provides financial assistance to public airports for airport development projects. Founded in 1974, the department issues licenses to aircraft dealers. In addition, it makes recommendations on legislative and policy issues. The Arizona Department of Transportation assembles and distributes information aviation-related to the public.
