The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources works to preserve, protect, manage and maintain natural resources for future generations and enforces local, state and federal laws. It supports angler education, adopt-a-trail, lake monitoring and water education programs, as well as hosts Project WILD. The department s other services include business and financial assistance, law enforcement, and assistance with environmental cleanups and contaminated properties. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources issues permits, certifications and licenses for hunting, fishing and open burning. It also administers solid and hazardous waste, mining and recycling programs. The department additionally conducts recreational safety education classes. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources maintains one of its locations in Spooner, Wis.
