The Waushara County Historical Society was founded in 1940 and we moved into the current museum after the jail closed in the fall of 1978.
Specialties
The Waushara County Historical Society Museum is housed in the old Waushara County Jail located at 221 S Saint Marie St., Wautoma, WI 54982. We have artifacts from Waushara County throughout the museum. We also have a genealogy department in the basement where you can look up obituaries of Waushara County residents and see old plat maps of Waushara County. Genealogy hours during the winter are usually Mondays 8-10:30 a.m. and 1-3 p.m., Wed. and Fri. from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. We are open most Wednesday afternoons from 1 to 4 p.m. for tours as well as research. Special events include 4th of July, Halloween and Christmas open house. We also hold rummage sales in the garage behind the museum during the summer. Our e-mail address is wausharamuseum@yahoo.com.
