WCADV was founded in 1978 as the Wisconsin Coalition Against Woman Abuse on the basis of local battered women's programs in Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Coalition Against Domestic Violence (WCADV), is a statewide, nonprofit, membership-based organization for battered women. The organization supports domestic abuse and prevention programs. Located in Madison, Wis., it provides technical assistance, policy development, educational, and networking and support services for victims and their families. The organization is certified by the National Association of Adult Protective Services Administrators (NAAPSA), National Network to End Domestic Violence (NNEDV), National Elder Justice Coalition, National Committee for the Prevention of Elder Abuse (NCPEA), and Coalition Attorney and Advocacy Network (CAAN).
