The Environmental Services Division of Public Works manages assets for wastewater and stormwater treatment and collections. It designs, constructs and inspects roads, streets and sidewalks. The division is a part of the Public Works Department, which operates building inspection, central equipment agency, community development, landfill, street, parks and recreation, and traffic signals and signs departments. Its street division is responsible for the repair and maintenance of equipment including fleet vehicles. The Public Works Department is governed by the City of Superior in Wisconsin, which was founded in 1889. The city manages finance, fire, human resources, planning, police and mayor departments.
