Milwaukee Gear manufactures gears for the automotive industry but began as a company whose founders delivered orders by horse and wagon. The company currently produces custom precision gearing and gear drives. Spurs, gears and pinions are among the products the company provides to OEMs. Milwaukee Gear has gained its experience through serving applications for air and gas compression, construction equipment, cranes and hoists, crushing, motion control, pumping, refrigeration chillers, robotics, transmission cases and vibrating screens and feeders. The company also cuts and grinds internal teeth in gears and offers capabilities to cut external or internal splines. In 1953, Milwaukee Gear s present 180,000-square-foot plant was completed in suburban Milwaukee. Emil G. Borisch and Walter C. Kohls founded the company in 1918.
