Greater Milwaukee Synod-Elca
The Greater Milwaukee Synod (GMS) is a geographic grouping of congregations in southeastern Wisconsin, extending from Sheboygan down to the Illinois border and from Lake Michigan to the western edge of Waukesha County. As one of the 65 synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), GMS is comprised of 115 congregations, 4 Synod Authorized Worshiping Communities, and 59,143 baptized members. Led by Bishop Paul D. Erickson and a 17-member synod council, GMS aims to foster authentic diversity and support congregations and rostered ministers through various resources and events. GMS organizes annual learning gatherings, such as the Together in Mission workshop, where lay and rostered leaders come together to worship, celebrate their partnership in the Gospel, and learn about ministry topics. The synod also collaborates with partners like the Healing Network to provide leadership training and team formation workshops for clergy, congregational staff, and members. With a commitment to equipping the saints for the work of ministry and building up the Body of Christ, GMS strives to make a positive impact in the community and support the mission of its congregations.Generated from the website
