History
Dr. Chester Harries arrived in Medford in 1948 and started what is today the Medford Veterinary Clinic. For several years, Dr. Harries worked out of his house as a solo practitioner. In the early 1950's, Dr. Harries built a small but efficient, 1,200 sq. ft., clinic building on Highway 13. Since the vets were out in the country all day, small animal hours were Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. It was a walk-in clinic so no one ever knew what to expect. The staff at this time consisted of three veterinarians, no technicians and no receptionists. Today, the Medford Veterinary Clinic is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment in a 9,362 sq. ft. facility staffed with 9 veterinarians, 4 technicians, 2 office staff and 3 receptionists with a satellite clinic in Colby serving ~ 50% large animal clients and ~ 50% small animal clients. With a staff of this size, the MVC is able to perform between 4+ surgeries and 30+ in-clinic appointments on a daily basis.
