The Lac Courte Oreilles Tribal Governing Board is the elected body responsible for promoting the general welfare of the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians and carrying out the provisions and purposes of their Constitution and Bylaws. Comprised of seven representatives, the Board works towards sustaining the tribe's heritage, defending their inherent sovereign rights, and providing for the educational, health, social welfare, and economic stability of present and future generations.
The Board members, including the Chairman, Vice Chairman, and Secretary-Treasurer, are elected to serve four-year terms, with elections staggered every two years. They work alongside various departments and directors, such as the LCO Health Center, LCO Ojibwe Community College, Boys & Girls Club, and LCO Vocational Rehabilitation, to ensure the well-being and progress of the tribe and its members.
