A nonprofit organization, Lakeside Curative Service has been operational for more than 50 years. Based in Racine, Wis., it is one of the leading vocational rehabilitation centers in the United States. Formerly known as Curative Workshop of Racine, the agency serves more than 3,500 individuals annually. Founded by Katherine Batten, it offers a wide variety of services, such as vocational programs, evaluation and assessments, life skills and work training, in-house placement and facility-based employment opportunities. Lakeside Curative Service also offers community-based employment options, support programs, resume preparation and teaching of interviewing skills. Spread on more than 50,000 square feet of space, the agency has a production and warehouse facility and offers services, including inventory control, production scheduling, shipping and receiving, logistics, assembly work, collating, fulfillment services, inspection solutions, machining and packaging.
