The 34.5-acre Konkel Park is home to Greenfield's Fourth of July celebration and annual Dan Jansen Family Fest. The park features two softball fields, four lighted and fenced-in volleyball courts, five Life Trail exercise stations, a large picnic shelter and restrooms and a concession stand.
Park facilities can be rented for events such as picnics, family reunions and birthdays. The shelter area accommodates up to 12 eight-foot tables, providing seating for about 96 people, and the gazebo accommodates up to three round picnic tables, seating about 24 people.
Konkel Park also has two playgrounds: one on the north side of the park that has been updated to include new slights, overhead activities and a climbing wall, and a newer playground on the south side of the park. In addition, the park includes walking and biking and nature trails with a board walk, wetland overlook area and 100-foot pedestrian bridge.
Originally named the Greenfield Recreation Complex, the park was dedicated in 1990 as Stanley J. Konkel Park to honor the man who served 34 years on the city's Parks and Recreation Board.
