History
After graduating from Blue Sky School of Massage, I did professional massage and yoga therapy for children with developmental disabilities and had a non-profit specializing in yoga in the schools and a workshop called Yoga Tools for Teachers. In 2009, I worked full time for Group Health Cooperative, a local HMO, in the complementary medicine department doing yoga and massage full time. Now on my own, my massage practice in on Madison's east side and teach twice weekly at Olbrich Botanical Gardens.
Specialties
I am a registered massage therapist since 1997, and Kripalu Yoga yoga instructor since 2002. I have given over 2500 massages specializing in soothing deep tissue massage and therapeutic trigger point therapy. I has helped many people afflicted with stress from life's daily challenges to pain from injuries and repetitive movements with gentle and efficient trigger point therapy and other treatment modalities that range from gentle to deep.I offer clients ways to continue therapy with skills in self-treatment. The Guide to Preventing and Self-treating Muscle Pain is my wellness presentation. It is an educational and practical workshop for the everyday person. The workshop teaches us how muscles become painful, how to self-treat pain and prevent muscles from becoming painful. The program includes an engaging power point presentation, breathing and stretching exercises and demonstrations on how to self-treat muscles. We will discuss when a massage therapist, physical therapist or physician is needed.
