History
Art Imig's Clothiers was founded in 1909, when 35-year-old Arthur E. Imig opened his store on North 8th Street, downtown Sheboygan. From the beginning, Art Imig's set a standard for the highest quality in men's clothing, whether custom-tailored, or top name brands. In 1935, Robert A. Imig, Arthur's son, began work at the store. Robert and his wife had two sons: Art and Bob. The business was joined by this third generation of Imigs as Art began work at the store in 1965; Bob, in 1975. In 1987, Art Imig's opened at The Shops at Woodlake Kohler. This is the clothier's current location. Late in 2013, Art Imig's was purchased by Ric Toman and his son, Jake Toman, of Fond du Lac. The new owners will retain the same store name and high standards in quality merchandise and customer relations that have made Art Imig's a presence in the area for over a century. Today, Art Imig's Clothiers, the oldest independent clothier in Wisconsin, is open every day of the week.
