History
In March of 2004 John Riepenhoff opened The Green Gallery an artist run project that for the last 8 years has existed as a totem for an emerging set of ideas about how art and artists in Milwaukee fit within the international, national and local dialogue. Local artists, curators and critics participated in the development of the program and the ongoing dialogue that encouraged collaboration and experimentation. In January of 2009, Riepenhoff partnered with Jake Palmert to open the current Green Gallery with a new storefront gallery space on Milwaukee's Eastside. The new space continues the original conceptual drive while expanding the gallery's involvement with venues and artists on a larger scale. The Green Gallery was one of the original organizing galleries in the Milwaukee International 2006 and 2008 as well as the Dark Fair 2008 in New York and 2009 in Cologne and continues to participate in an international community of artists though fairs and gallery exhibitions.
