Doris Kim is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. She obtained her undergraduate degree majoring in neuroscience and minoring in biology and psychology from Lawrence University in Appleton, WI and earned her MS from Tufts University, in Boston, MA. She earned her medical degree from the University of Toledo College of Medicine in Toledo, OH. She completed her internship and residency in general surgery at Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. She then went on to complete her fellowship in bariatrics/minimally invasive surgery at the University of California in Davis, CA. Dr. Kim's medical interests include advanced laparoscopy, robotic surgery, bariatric surgery, anti-reflux procedures, hiatal hernia repair, gastroparesis, abdominal wall hernias, inguinal hernias, and gallbladder disease. Dr. Kim is on the foregut committee of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. She is on the robotics committee of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and is a member of the American Foregut Society. In her time away from work, Dr. Kim loves spending time outside chasing the sun, listening to live music, and trying new restaurants. She also loves to travel. She recommends visiting Iceland for the unique landscape and Spain for their food and architecture.
