In 1948, the Eau Claire and Hudson circuits of the Ecumenical Lutheran Churches of America started the American Lutheran Homes. It operates various residential care units. It has a more than 81-bed skilled nursing facility located in Mondovi, Wis., and serves both rehabilitative and long-term care residents in a caring, Christian environment. It focuses on meeting the physical, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of its residents in a home-like setting. Residents and families participate in an individualized care plan with its interdisciplinary care team and physician involvement. The center also provides physical, speech and occupational therapies; hospice care; private rooms; and medical transportation. American Lutheran Homes is sponsored by more than 20 Lutheran congregations and is affiliated with the Evengelical Lutheran Church in America.
