Kanawha Manufacturing Company has been serving the power, coal and metals. industries since 1902. The company is family owned and operated with shops in the Kanawha Valley around Charleston, W.Va. The company started business by building mine cars for coal mines. From the 1940s through the 1960s, Kanawha designed and built coal tipples. Since the 1960s, it has expanded into the power generation aftermarket for both products and maintenance services.
