Founded in 1896, the Children's Home Society of West Virginia is a private, nonprofit organization that offers a range of child welfare, adoption, foster care, emergency shelter, mediation and advocacy services. It also provides various behavioral health, tutoring, truancy diversion, and recruitment and training programs. Additionally, the organization administers a youth program that includes services for children and youths who suffer from behavioral problems. The Children's Home Society of West Virginia is comprised of employees, foster and adoptive families, volunteers, board members, advisory council members, donors, benefactors and supporters. It is a member agency of the West Virginia Alliance for Children and Child Welfare League of America. The organization is approved by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children. The Children's Home Society of West Virginia maintains a location in Martinsburg, W.Va.
