The Brookside Family Life Center is a residential program for young, at-risk and abused single mothers and their children, as well as expectant single mothers. It offers emergency housing services and conducts life management skills training. The center helps in the physical, spiritual, emotional and social development of mothers. Located in Charleston, W.Va., the Brookside Family Life Center is owned and operated by Union Mission, which provides food and clothing to struggling families in more than 15 West Virginia counties. Founded in 1911, Union Mission also operates a rescue shelter facility for men, as well as maintains a thrift store that offers furniture, computers and household articles at reduced prices.
