History
For more than 100 years, Woodland Park Zoo has been a cherished community resource and a unique urban oasis. Generations of Puget Sound families have come to the zoo to marvel at the animals and be inspired by the peaceful and beautiful surroundings. Since approximately 1980, the zoo has been running our popular Zooper Day Camp program. While the program has evolved over the years, our main goal has remained the same...to connect children with nature!
Specialties
Zooper Day Camp is an exciting day camp opportunity that takes place on zoo grounds. A day in the life of a Zooper Day Camper includes the exploration of biofacts, zoo tours, hands on demonstrations, games and crafts. All of our staff have a wealth of knowledge about the zoo and experience working with children. Each summer we alternate 2 themes so children can attend one or two weeks of the program. For the summer of 2011 our themes are: Mystery Animal - A new animal has been discovered in the jungles of Argentina. Campers will work together to decipher the daily updates from our researchers in the field and classify the animal based on its strange characteristics. My Ultimate Zoo - Campers will be engaged in creating their own zoo through activities and games inspired by the exciting game, Zooreka, by Cranium.
