Viridis is the first salon in Kirkland to be certified a "green salon" -- everything from the building materials to the products used are all environmentally friendly. Owner Carrie Malia sought this designation after suffering the nausea and numbness of "sick buildings syndrome," caused by the chemicals used in many hair-styling products. To keep Viridis' interior free of toxins, the salon was built using natural and recycled materials, and the hair products employed here are nontoxic, too. Services include haircuts, color, facial waxing, eyebrow and eyelash tinting, makeup application and something known as the Brazilian Blowout, a keratin treatment for straightening curly hair into straight, smooth locks.
