Founded in 1936, Union Gospel Mission provides assistance with meals, night lodging and clothing to people in need. Its facilities include a community youth center, Christian campground, conference center and The Olde Lighthouse Shoppe. The organization s youth center offers opportunities to participate in after-school activities, such as homework assistance, tutoring sessions, games, and arts and crafts. Union Gospel Mission also offers chapel services. It operates a library that stocks a collection of Christian books, Bibles, audio and video tapes and reference materials. In addition, the organization offers Christian counseling services through chaplains and program directors in English and Spanish languages. Union Gospel Mission has nearly 30 rooms to provide transitional housing services to families in crisis. It offers a Biblically-based support group program for individuals and family members with chemical dependency and addiction problems. The organization is located in Yakima, Wash.
