The Seattle Times Company is a locally owned and independent producer of news and information publications for readers in the northwestern United States. Its flagship publication is The Seattle Times, Washington s largest daily newspaper. The Seattle Times has a daily circulation of more than 200,000 and has won seven Pulitzer Prizes. The company also owns seven affiliate newspapers in Washington and Maine, several printing and distribution subsidiaries and a network of online news, information and advertising Web sites. The Seattle Times Company was founded by Alden Blethen in 1896. It has headquarters in Seattle. The company also has a joint operating agreement with the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, a separately owned newspaper, in which The Seattle Times Company manages the Post-Intelligencer s advertising, production, circulation and marketing operations.
