Established in 1964, Melvin G. Syre Elementary School serves more than 500 students in kindergarten through grade six. It offers regular classes in mathematics, writing, reading and science. The school also offers various special education classes. Its library provides a collection of fiction, nonfiction and reference books. The school also serves morning and afternoon meals that include fruits, toasts, rolls, baked vegetables, muffins, burgers and salads. Its staff includes classroom teachers, counselors, psychologists, pathologists, therapists, custodians and paraprofessionals. Located in Shoreline, Wash., Melvin G. Syre Elementary School is a part of the Shoreline School District, which educates more than 9,000 students.
