The Sumner Downtown Association (SDA) was previously called Sumner Promotion Association, founded in 1973, but it changed its name and renewed its focus in 2006. The SDA has taken on the concepts of the Main Street Program, developed to energize the businesses in the downtown core and have more events for the public to get involved in downtown businesses, all while working to preserve the history of Sumner.
