The Washington State Patrol, also known as WSP, is a full-service law enforcement agency that is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and the Washington Association of Sheriffs and Police Chiefs (WASPC). The agency operates through crime laboratory and investigative assistance divisions. It also has a criminal investigation division that investigates vehicular homicides and assaults, felony hit-and-runs and auto thefts. In addition, the Washington State Patrol engages in a variety of community outreach activities. Headquartered in Olympia, Wash., the agency maintains offices at various locations. It additionally offers narcotics investigation and canine handler training services.
